Moral Orientation: Part III - Self-as-Sovereign

Damnatio Memoriae*
(Erasing memory)
(Thoughts and Observations)

If we view history and humanity through moral orientation, we seem, in thought and deed, to continually fluctuate between orientations:
1. Transcendent / Divine
2. Social / Power Consensus
3. Self-as-Sovereign [as Supreme Authority].
For background to this 3-part series, see 1) Moral Orientation? Where Are We?1 and 2) Moral Orientation? Part II: Social / Power Consensus?2

The third orientation: self-as-sovereign runs along a spectrum from sweet, naïve new-ager types who radiate love, peace, freedom, tolerance, live-and-let-live all the way to the extreme, “do what thou wilt,” hard-core pederast.

Yes, tolerance and live-and-let-live are essential elements in this mortal probation3 with its moral agency — where  tolerance means accepting people without having to accept their ideas or demands. They pursue their own way and we pursue them with “Good News” (as much as they will allow).

Granted, maintaining peace and social order is a complex task in a complex society, but in large measure private, personal choices do not injure others or their property. If choices do harm (especially the innocent), there are generally criminal and civil remedies, but, in the end, all thought, speech, and action, public or private, will be judged by Divine Justice — not by social / power consensus or some sovereign-self defense. The Great Judge will decide, in every individual case, if it is just to apply mercy. In the meantime, however, our societies and cultures must learn how to manage aggressive, self-as-sovereign activists and tyrants (and their servitors) who pursue control and domination.

If we had retained memory of the “Grand Council,”5 we might be better able to spot the many mortal variants of that first and famous self-as-sovereign activist — the one described by God:
1 AND I, the Lord God, spake unto Moses, saying: That Satan, whom thou hast commanded in the name of mine Only Begotten, is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.
2 But, behold, my Beloved Son, which was my Beloved and Chosen from the beginning, said unto me—Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.
3 Wherefore, because that Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man, which I, the Lord God, had given him, and also, that I should give unto him mine own power; by the power of mine Only Begotten, I caused that he should be cast down;
4 And he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice (Pearl of Great Price | Moses 4:1-4).
Isaiah said of this failed usurper:
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High (Old Testament | Isaiah 14:12-14).
We see this self-as-sovereign attitude manifest in the monuments, inscriptions, and writings of many kings, pharaohs, emperors, wanna-be’s, et al. throughout history. In page after page in Empires of the Bible one can read the extravagant, self-accolades of old world tyrants.6

And what is self-as-sovereign if not: “I am who I think and say I am; I am subjectively able to decide what is good and what is bad; I am destined, deserving, entitled to rule in whatever spheres I choose; My way is the way”? And thus we hear the ever recycling divine lament of “their own way.”7

We are now witnessing a self-as-sovereign explosion, especially, in the promotion by seducers and servitors of “sovereign” dysphorics — supreme arbiters now of what is “real” based on feelings; of what is good speech, what is hate speech; what is right, what is wrong; what is timely, what is not; what another must say and think to conform to the sovereign-self’s self-image. Values orientation is now subjective and personal unless contested, and then it (bizarrely) becomes objective and compulsory (for less-sovereign selves?). Almost always, the self-as-sovereign moves from personal choice to public coercion.

We see this self-as-sovereign manifest throughout scripture, every time an “authority” took it upon him- / herself to act outside divine orientation. Think of kings Saul, David, Solomon and on down the divided line for generations. We see it succinctly expressed in the words of anti-Christ Korihor:
17 And many more such things did he [Korihor] say unto them, telling them that there could be no atonement made for the sins of men, but every man fared in this life according to the management of the creature; therefore every man prospered according to his genius, and that every man conquered according to his strength; and whatsoever a man did was no crime.
18 And thus he did preach unto them, leading away the hearts of many, causing them to lift up their heads in their wickedness, yea, leading away many women, and also men, to commit whoredoms—telling them that when a man was dead, that was the end thereof  (Book of Mormon | Alma 30:17-18).
We see it in the descriptions of the “natural man.”8 Many, in the past, have conspired to be rulers, and using fear, favour, and falsehood have prospered for a time, always with the help of social / power consensus. As Étienne de La Boétie observed:
I should like merely to understand how it happens that so many men, so many villages, so many cities, so many nations, sometimes suffer under a single tyrant who has no other power than the power they give him; who is able to harm them only to the extent to which they have the willingness to bear with him; who could do them absolutely no injury unless they preferred to put up with him rather than contradict him. Surely a striking situation! Yet it is so common that one must grieve the more and wonder the less at the spectacle of a million men serving in wretchedness, their necks under the yoke, not constrained by a greater multitude than they ...8
Now under COVID, “gender,” and climate politics, we have regressed to another déjà vu of tyranny and mindless servitors. With the aid of the internet, social / power consensus has elevated the self-as-sovereign orientation to new heights, creating a flood of mini-tyrants — a plague of bullies; a bully culture. Social / Power consensus and self-as-sovereign have conjoined once again to battle against transcendent / divine. So, have we come to this?
5 [T]he people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable (Old Testament | Isaiah 3:5).

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever (New Testament | Romans 1:25).
Before ending this post, I reiterate: for truly dysphoric adolescents, compassion with a balancing of facts, feelings, faith, and science (NOT pscience 9) can help adolescents navigate crises till the age of maturity when as adults, they can make a choice of orientation and presentation, but not a choice to coerce conformity in others.

In the meantime what choices are we, adults, making? Are we, “compassionately” coaching youth to live in the suffocation and sin of self-focus and -centredness with the expectation of happiness, joy, peace? Are we too sophisticated to mention:
19 [K]now ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's (New Testament | 1 Corinthians 6:19-20)?
Let us ponder whether our participation in the mocking of divine truths and divine traditions that have proven themselves over millennia is but a precursor to the sudden demise of our own arrogance.
G.K. Chesterton: Tradition means giving votes to the most obscure of all classes, our ancestors. It is the democracy of the dead. Tradition refuses to submit to the small and arrogant oligarchy of those who merely happen to be walking about. All democrats object to men being disqualified by the accident of birth; tradition objects to their being disqualified by the accident of death. (Orthodoxy [Image Books, 1959], 48)10

3. Probation:
Book of Mormon | 1 Nephi 10:20 21
20 Therefore remember, O man, for all thy doings thou shalt be brought into judgment.
21 Wherefore, if ye have sought to do wickedly in the days of your probation, then ye are found unclean before the judgment–seat of God; and no unclean thing can dwell with God; wherefore, ye must be cast off forever.
Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 2:21
21 And the days of the children of men were prolonged, according to the will of God, that they might repent while in the flesh; wherefore, their state became a state of probation, and their time was lengthened, according to the commandments which the Lord God gave unto the children of men.
Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 9:27-28
27 But wo unto him that has the law given, yea, that has all the commandments of God, like unto us, and that transgresseth them, and that wasteth the days of his probation, for awful is his state!
28 O that cunning plan of the evil one! O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish.
Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 33:9
9 I also have charity for the Gentiles. But behold, for none of these can I hope except they shall be reconciled unto Christ, and enter into the narrow gate, and walk in the strait path which leads to life, and continue in the path until the end of the day of probation.
Book of Mormon | Alma 12:24
24 And we see that death comes upon mankind, yea, the death which has been spoken of by Amulek, which is the temporal death; nevertheless there was a space granted unto man in which he might repent; therefore this life became a probationary state; a time to prepare to meet God; a time to prepare for that endless state which has been spoken of by us, which is after the resurrection of the dead.
Book of Mormon | Alma 42:3-4, 10, 13
3 Now, we see that the man had become as God, knowing good and evil; and lest he should put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat and live forever, the Lord God placed cherubim and the flaming sword, that he should not partake of the fruit—
4 And thus we see, that there was a time granted unto man to repent, yea, a probationary time, a time to repent and serve God. ...
10 Therefore, as they had become carnal, sensual, and devilish, by nature, this probationary state became a state for them to prepare; it became a preparatory state. ...
13 Therefore, according to justice, the plan of redemption could not be brought about, only on conditions of repentance of men in this probationary state, yea, this preparatory state; for except it were for these conditions, mercy could not take effect except it should destroy the work of justice. Now the work of justice could not be destroyed; if so, God would cease to be God.
Book of Mormon | Helaman 13:38
38 But behold, your days of probation are past; ye have procrastinated the day of your salvation until it is everlastingly too late, and your destruction is made sure; yea, for ye have sought all the days of your lives for that which ye could not obtain; and ye have sought for happiness in doing iniquity, which thing is contrary to the nature of that righteousness which is in our great and Eternal Head.
Book of Mormon | Mormon 9:28
28 Be wise in the days of your probation; strip yourselves of all uncleanness; ask not, that ye may consume it on your lusts, but ask with a firmness unshaken, that ye will yield to no temptation, but that ye will serve the true and living God.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 29:43-45
   43 And thus did I, the Lord God, appoint unto man the days of his probation—that by his natural death he might be raised in immortality unto eternal life, even as many as would believe;
   44 And they that believe not unto eternal damnation; for they cannot be redeemed from their spiritual fall, because they repent not;
45 For they love darkness rather than light, and their deeds are evil, and they receive their wages of whom they list to obey.

Old Testament | Proverbs 1:30-31
30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
Old Testament | Isaiah 53:6; Book of Mormon | Mosiah 14:6
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Old Testament | Isaiah 56:10-11
10 His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.
11 Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.
Old Testament | Isaiah 58:13
13 ¶ If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
Old Testament | Isaiah 66:3
3 He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
Old Testament | Ezekiel 22:31
31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
Old Testament | Ezekiel 36:17, 32
17 Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings: their way was before me as the uncleanness of a removed woman. ...
32 Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.
Book of Mormon | Helaman 6:31
31 And now behold, he [Satan] had got great hold upon the hearts of the Nephites; yea, insomuch that they had become exceedingly wicked; yea, the more part of them had turned out of the way of righteousness, and did trample under their feet the commandments of God, and did turn unto their own ways, and did build up unto themselves idols of their gold and their silver.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 1:15-16
   15 For they have strayed from mine ordinances, and have broken mine everlasting covenant;
16 They seek not the Lord to establish his righteousness, but every man walketh in his own way, and after the image of his own god, whose image is in the likeness of the world, and whose substance is that of an idol, which waxeth old and shall perish in Babylon, even Babylon the great, which shall fall.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 56:14-15
14 Behold, thus saith the Lord unto my people—you have many things to do and to repent of; for behold, your sins have come up unto me, and are not pardoned, because you seek to counsel in your own ways.
15 And your hearts are not satisfied. And ye obey not the truth, but have pleasure in unrighteousness.
8. Book of Mormon | Mosiah 3:19
19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.
New Testament | 1 Corinthians 2:14
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Book of Mormon | Alma 26:21-22
21 And now behold, my brethren, what natural man is there that knoweth these things? I say unto you, there is none that knoweth these things, save it be the penitent.
22 Yea, he that repenteth and exerciseth faith, and bringeth forth good works, and prayeth continually without ceasing—unto such it is given to know the mysteries of God; yea, unto such it shall be given to reveal things which never have been revealed; yea, and it shall be given unto such to bring thousands of souls to repentance, even as it has been given unto us to bring these our brethren to repentance.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 67:12
12 Neither can any natural man abide the presence of God, neither after the carnal mind.

9.  Pscience is the corrupted offshoot of honorable Science. It is the inevitable consequence of man's obsessive pursuit and protection of power, gain, glory, and domination. Pscience is pseudo, psychopathic, propagandizing, plagiarizing, politicized, psy-opic, and above all, profit-obsessed, and profit-driven. This obsessive pursuit and protection by people without conscience is often enabled by naïve, trusting, or fear-filled acolytes. Pscience is a one-faith, one-dogma, heretic-fearing, self-deceiving, other-censoring system.

Enoch’s Solar Calendar – Month XII?

(Times and Seasons series: Post #XIX)

Note: This is the last post in the Times and Seasons series concerning Enoch's solar calendar. These calendar posts are my way of exploring Enoch’s solar calendar. I don’t know yet how to reconcile Enoch with present-day observations, but I plan to keep observing and studying. If these posts prompt others to greater observation and inquiry then so much the better. We learn by asking questions and observing, which we should probably be doing more of since much of God’s sign-language is forecast to occur in the Heavens according to His schedule and calendar. If there are mistakes herein they are mine, not Enoch's.

Signs, Seasons, Days, and Years: # II (Enoch)1
Pondering Enoch's Calendar?2
According to the Book of Enoch, the sun continues northward, now rising and setting through East and West portal 3 for 31 days. My observations over the past months are that the sun's movement seems incremental and does not manifest a sudden jump to a new portal after a 30 or 31 days cycle.

Allegedly, Month XII has 31 days, with the light / dark division being 9L / 9D (out of 18 parts) in the northern hemisphere; and follows Day 30 of Month XI. According to Enoch, the first day of Month XII always falls on Day Five of the week (our Gregorian Thursday). Day 31 marks the Vernal Equinox which allegedly is March 19, 2024, 11:06 pm, Kirtland, Ohio time).3

Below is a PDF grid of what Month XII (Twelve) might look like if we looked to the Book of Enoch instead of Pope Gregory (assuming, of course, that Enoch hasn't suffered text corruption — and who knows for sure?!). Also, this Month Twelve follows the same pattern layout as Months Three, Six, and Nine. To see the full year, repeating grid, see here.4

For those interested in what has happened in scripture / history during Month XII [Gregorian February / March], here is a list. And if there is parallelism or déjà vu in times, seasons, and prophecy, could any of these recitations of date have any relevance to these last days? — (the last week of Daniel's 70 weeks?)

Twelfth Month (7 references):
27 ¶ And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison; (Old Testament | 2 Kings 25:27).

1 NOW the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand. ...
15 The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand (Old Testament | 1 Chronicles 27:1, 15).

7 ¶ In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar. ...
13 And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.
14 The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day (Old Testament | Esther 3:7, 13-14).

11 Wherein the king [Ahasuerus] granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, both little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,
12 Upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, namely, upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar (Old Testament | Esther 8:11-12).

1 NOW in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;) (Old Testament | Esther 9:1).

31 ¶ And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon in the first year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison,
32 And spake kindly unto him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon,
33 And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life (Old Testament | Jeremiah 52:31-33).

Moral Orientation? Part II: Social / Power Consensus?

If we view history and humanity through moral orientation, we seem, in thought and deed, to continually fluctuate between orientations:
1. Transcendent / Divine,
2. Social / Power Consensus, and
3. Self as Sovereign.
For background for this 3-part series, see “The Three Sources of Moral Knowledge [Orientation]” by John Lennox and Jordan B. Peterson1 and Déjà Vu – Times II, part one: “Moral Orientation? Where Are We?2

At first blush, consensus might seem the most pragmatic and democratic way to establish morals and values for a complex society, until we remember the things that have been done in the name of social / power consensus.3

Lennox and Peterson use the analogy of Nazi Germany to illustrate the problems with social / power consensus, but the Nazis are just one of many historical genocides and massacres that unfolded under a social / power consensus. This partial list of historical examples4 is shocking; not to mention the B.C. and A.D. millennia of slave-trading, enslavement, wars, and violent domination. In our own time, we have witnessed decades of proxy wars, “legal” abortions, tyrannical regimes, and quasi-hidden atrocities like the Phoenix program5 all under social / power consensus.

Just ponder how the Ten Commandments from a divine / transcendent orientation have fared under social / power consensus?
  [1] Thou shalt have no other gods before me;
[2] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness ... [nor] bow down ... to them, nor serve them; ...
[3] Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; ....
[4] Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. ....
[5] Honour thy father and thy mother ....
  [6] Thou shalt not kill.
[7] Thou shalt not commit adultery.
  [8] Thou shalt not steal.
[9] Thou shalt not bear false witness ....
[10] Thou shalt not covet ...
And what of the global COVID narrative where once freedom-loving, courteous peoples and nations morphed into bullies, aggressors, accusers, coercers, and snitches; into fearful, cruel, blind and deaf amnesiacs. Just listen to the National Citizens Inquiry (NCI6) to get a sense of what a social / power consensus did to the lives and integrity of millions worldwide. And let us never forget how captured the majority of our medics, judges, teachers, leaders, “experts” and enforcers were by a coercive, false narrative.

Perhaps worst of all is the present morass of “gender” politics inverting the creation of Day Six7 into a medical and pharma windfall. Are we so blind that we do not see this for what it is? Are we not aware of what unethical pscience8 can achieve through food, pharma, trauma, mental contagion, and menticide9? Are we such dupes (under an illusion of compassion10) that we think disorders and dysphorias described in the DMV5 are, now,  to be affirmed and facilitated? When was the threat of suicide, if one did not get one’s feelings affirmed, ever acceptable? When was it ever compassionate to encourage body mutilation to “feel” better or to become oneself?

How are “spiritually”-aware adults (“expert” or not, LDS or not) who guide socially / emotionally confused and / or abused children into the arms of profiteers any better than infidels? I suspect they will be deemed worse.

Let us ask: When were adolescent feelings ever the end of the story? Are we implying to youth that if God doesn’t give a quick fix to confusion, that time and maturity won’t help either? Instead of trusting in and seeking help (patiently) from the Creator, do we try to fast-track the fix and force it on others because God-created hormones will not wait? Are consensus-captured parents any better than captured-“experts” at deciding when to chemically castrate or sex-change (exchange) a child? And when did anyone ever have the right to cause or to consent to cause harm or injury to a child? Even the child does not have  legal capacity to consent to harm by another, even by a parent. And don’t we already know plenty of parents and others who have been held legally accountable for harm to a child? except now it’s encouraged if called “gender-affirming care”? And “conversion therapy11 (even talk-therapy) is outlawed in many places after “gender-affirming” conversion has been achieved. Just consider all the inversions, projections, and “self”-incriminations of pseudoscientific practice that one finds in this one wiki article (“conversion therapy”).

Of course, dysphoric children need compassion, and understanding, but not the corruption of compassion that escalates feelings and confusion into irreversible, life-altering sterility and life-long medical / pharma after-care.

Give adolescents the full story. Acknowledge the thousands of de-transitioners. Let dysphoric children hear the “down-side” of social / power consensus. Help them understand that “identity crisis” and “role confusion” are the short-term norm (known and studied for decades12) for most adolescents; that they are in the midst of psycho-social-physical development and that this abnormal spike in “gender” dysphoria is sourced in a social / mental construct, NOT in some erroneous sex-assignment at or before birth. Sex is a physical construct, visible and invisible. No amount of cutting, cosmetics, or imagining  can change billions of XX to XY or vice versa; nor does it work to pretend we are sovereign beings, accountable only to self, but with the sovereign right to compel others to see and accept whatever we allege. We are not potter’s clay to mush and mold ourselves at whim:
6 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding? (Old Testament | Isaiah 29:16)
And another thing: what of the social / power consensus of DEI13 ideology that is, in reality, destroying all the real DEI gains of the past 70 years? The faux, coercive DEI being preached by captured, coerced corps, CEOs, et al. is but one more “turning of things upside down” presaging another déjà vu collapse, as some corps already know.

If we consider scripture history, we can see that almost every cause of lamentation arose because God’s people fell into a social / power consensus orientation. What built the tower of Babel? the great and spacious buildings of then and now? What kept the children of Israel in bondage for hundreds of years? What brought about a turning away from the judge-system to a desire for kings “like all the nations”14? What do we think undergird the killing of Jesus?

In our own day, social / power consensus is aggressively destroying transcendent / divine orientation. Infiltrators, provocateurs, deceivers, and dupers have maneuvered their way into every level of government, every agency, every church, and every institution, weaponizing a deluded form of “love thy neighbour” over “love the Lord thy God” and promoting trust in (corrupted, psychopathic) pscience. Let us ask ourselves: Where is my orientation? What is the orientation of leaders as manifest in word, deed, silence? Are we being asked to pretend? to live a lie?

The reality of this last test and gathering is that believers in transcendent / divine orientation will likely  become targets for scorn, coercion, and censorship15 by advocates of social / power consensus. We are seeing it already. If déjà vu holds true, it may even escalate to a repeat of death threats as recorded in the Ancient Americas that preceded His first coming,16 even if that seems impossible, but then who could have imagined the cruelty and crimes of these past four COVID years.

Will we be discerning or will we follow the pied-pipers of social / power consensus?

PS: Feb 15, 2024: As for consensus advocates who feel they are the persecuted, maligned ones, perhaps they are; God knows, but what if criticism is in the same sense as those (like priests of Baal, idolaters, kingmen, Pharisees, Sadducees, and so forth) who came under the convicting words of Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, the Nephis and Almas, Helaman, Peter, Paul, et al., but especially the blistering rebukes of Jesus17? And if we think that only prophets and apostles are allowed to criticize, what should we make of this counsel to disciples (bold emphasis added):
And Jesus said unto his disciples, Beholdest thou the Scribes, and the Pharisees, and the Priests, and the Levites? They teach in their synagogues, but do not observe the law, nor the commandments; and all have gone out of the way, and are under sin.
Go thou and say unto them, Why teach ye men the law and the commandments, when ye yourselves are the children of corruption?
Say unto them, Ye hypocrites, first cast out the beam out of thine own yes; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
Go ye into the world, saying unto all, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come nigh unto you (New Testament | JST Matthew 7:6-9; JST1876-NT, p. 10).
Always bearing in mind:
1 Now these are the words which Jesus taught his disciples that they should say unto the people. Judge not unrighteously, that ye be not judged; but judge righteous judgment.
2 For with what judgment ye shall judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again (New Testament | JST Matthew 7:1-2).

24 Judge not according to your traditions, but judge righteous judgment (New Testament | JST John 7:24).
Every one of us is, by our nature, self-defensive, but if we are not honest in evaluating criticism of ourselves or our friends, would that not also be unrighteous judgment?

3. And yes, there are questions about things allegedly done under a transcendent / divine orientation, but how often in history have we seen God's name (mis)used to justify things not of God (a violation of the third commandment). To claim an Orientation is not the deciding word because Orientation Two often seeks to wrap itself in Orientation One, as we see in gender-affirming care. As to the wrath and anger of God for all our breaches: Justice does terrible things when repentance is rejected and Mercy unrequested. For the most part, we do not understand in the least, how fierce the character of Justice

15. If scorn, coercion, and censorship are what LGBTQ+ think they are suffering, perhaps some are, but for many their wish is to just live their chosen life without fanfare or coercion of others. The self-obsessed diva / divo (SOD) activists who have ruined the tolerance / acceptance of the past several decades by their demand for narcissistic supply and drive to dominate the culture have created a regrettable backlash. Their coercion of the culture is the opposite of the DEI they claim.

Moral Orientation? Where Are We?

If there are three sources of moral orientation, which is ours:
1. Transcendent / Divine?
2. Social / Power Consensus?
3. Self as Sovereign?
Perhaps this 12-minute segment of John Lennox and Jordan Peterson in conversation could give us a clearer view.

The Three Sources of Moral Knowledge [Orientation]
(Jordan B Peterson Clips | Nov 6, 2023 | Time 12:34 min.) at (archived at
Full episode at, or
I propose to explore these three orientations in three posts, starting with Transcendent / Divine.

In the beginning and in sporadic historical periods, transcendent / divine orientation was the moral guide for believers in the Creator God of Adam and Eve. Even for some pagans, the moral orientation was perceived as transcendent / divine as they sought direction from their “other-world” gods and oracles, but since their idols, gods, and oracles were based in the fluctuating social-cultural-power dynamic, their moral orientation was susceptible to corruptions inherent in human nature.

To begin, let us recall the transcendent moral imperatives presented through Moses and written with the finger of God1 — called the “tables of the covenant”; given in full here,2 but in summary, here:
  [1] Thou shalt have no other gods before me;
[2] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness ...
For the children of Israel there were numerous other procedural imperatives relating to their religious worship, but the Ten Commandments served as the basis of their social and civil order; except their history is one continual cause for lament3:
16 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them (Old Testament | Deuteronomy 31:16; see Deut. 28).

8 ¶ Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:
9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:
10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us (Old Testament | Isaiah 30:8–11).
When the Savior arrived on the scene, things were not much improved, but instead of expanding the Ten to attempt more clarity and control, He indexed the Ten into Two4:
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets .(New Testament | Matthew 22:36- 40).
To adequately understand what “love the Lord thy God” requires and what “love thy neighbour” means, we must be open to what Scripture actually says. Has Scripture ever praised self-will? or said:
• “follow the crowd”?
• “happiness is fitting-in”?
• “trust in the arm of flesh”?
• “might makes right”?
• “your feelings take priority over My Will and Law”?
• “power, gain, glory, privilege are the name of the game”?
• “power, gain, glory, privilege prove God's approval”?
• “whatever one does is no sin”?
• “do what thou wilt; it mattereth not”?
But as usual, many then and now, find the transcendent orientation too constraining — too disruptive to self — too insensitive — too threatening. Why all this constant talk of repenting and obedience5? Why must Justice and Judgment6 intrude on the happy thought “live and let live”7? Some even seem to imagine that moral orientation is negotiable or a balancing act between good deeds and bad deeds despite: “the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance.”8

What did and does a loving God do with us sinners? condone our dysfunctional, self-centred behaviour OR call us to repentance — to be God-centred? What did the Testament prophets and apostles do? They knew the merciful promises for penitence and the just curses for abandoning Truth and Justice. They knew it was no act of love to counsel or affirm rejection of divine orientation in favour of vacillating pagan, cultural, political, philosophical, or social notions. They knew this life was a test and a probation9 and their imperative duty was to:
1 CRY aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins (Old Testament | Isaiah 58:1).
Should we not be crying aloud that only a masque of love counsels or affirms a turning away from divine orientation to a social consensus or self-centred one? Is not this promise of DEI,10 that so many LDS are now preaching, but a variant of Lucifer’s (faux) plan to save all (DEI?), where “[we] will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely [we] will do it”11? Or as Lennox says, also reminiscent of the Garden offer “to become as the gods” — to be the judge of what is good and what is evil12 without apparent memory of:
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! (Old Testament | Isaiah 5:20-21)
Do we think that God didn’t anticipate dysphorics? Yes, God expects us to have compassion for the truly dysphoric and the confused; He expects us to tolerate personal choices that don't harm or injure others13; He expects that we will not violate the first commandment (to love Him) when claiming to keep the second (love our neighbour); He expects us not to be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ even when others are; AND, willing or not, He's going to give us experiences that can foster a humble heart and a contrite spirit.14

Yes, God can heal the truly confused and abused children of this age, but the drivers and profiteers of social-emotional-psychological contagion will not escape consequence.15 As nations, cultures, and individuals continue to abandon transcendent moral orientation, what might God say to the aiders and abettors — to the Balaams16 of this world?
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity (New Testament | Matthew 7:19-23, Book of Mormon | 3 Nephi 14:19-23).
A final question: If we viewed our world associations and institutions in light of their moral orientation, would it make a difference in our perception and support of “their” truth?

(All bold emphasis has been added throughout.)
1. Old Testament | Exodus 24:12
12 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
Old Testament | Exodus 31:18
18 And he [God] gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
Old Testament | Exodus 34:1-2
1 AND the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.
2 And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount. ...
28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
Old Testament | Deuteronomy 4:13
13 And he [God] declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.
Old Testament | Deuteronomy 5:22
22 ¶ These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
Old Testament | Deuteronomy 9:9-11
9 When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
10 And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.
Old Testament | Deuteronomy 10:1-4
1 AT that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.
3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.
4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.
Old Testament | 1 Kings 8:9
9 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
2Old Testament | Exodus 20:3-17
Thou shalt have no other gods before me[1].
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
   Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments[2].
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain[3].
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it[4].
12 ¶ Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee[5].
   13 Thou shalt not kill[6].
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery[7].
   15 Thou shalt not steal[8].
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour[9].
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's[10].  |
3.  Pearl of Great Price | Moses 6:28-30
28 And for these many generations, ever since the day that I created them, have they gone astray, and have denied me, and have sought their own counsels in the dark; and in their own abominations have they devised murder, and have not kept the commandments, which I gave unto their father, Adam.
   29 Wherefore, they have foresworn themselves, and, by their oaths, they have brought upon themselves death; and a hell I have prepared for them, if they repent not;
30 And this is a decree, which I have sent forth in the beginning of the world, from my own mouth, from the foundation thereof, and by the mouths of my servants, thy fathers, have I decreed it, even as it shall be sent forth in the world, unto the ends thereof .
Old Testament | Judges 2:12–13
12 And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.
13 And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
Old Testament | Deuteronomy 31:26-27, 29
26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
27 For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death? ...
29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.
4. (before He reduced the Law to One: ... nevertheless not My will, but Thine, be done (New Testament | Luke 22:42; Matthew 26:39)
5. Just a few of the hundreds referencing “keep” and “commandments”
Old Testament | Exodus 15:26
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
Old Testament | Exodus 20:6
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Old Testament | Deuteronomy 4:40
40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.
Old Testament | Deuteronomy 5:29-31
29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
30 Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.
31 But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.
Old Testament | Deuteronomy 6:17
17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
Old Testament | Deuteronomy 13:4
4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
Old Testament | 1 Kings 2:3
3 And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:
Old Testament | Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
13 ¶ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
New Testament | Matthew 19:17
17 And he [Jesus] said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
New Testament | John 14:15, 21
15 ¶ If ye love me, keep my commandments. ...
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Book of Mormon | 1 Nephi 15:25
25 Wherefore, I, Nephi, did exhort them to give heed unto the word of the Lord; yea, I did exhort them with all the energies of my soul, and with all the faculty which I possessed, that they would give heed to the word of God and remember to keep his commandments always in all things.
Book of Mormon | 1 Nephi 17:3
3 And thus we see that the commandments of God must be fulfilled. And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them; wherefore, he did provide means for us while we did sojourn in the wilderness.
Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 1:20
20 And he hath said that: Inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall prosper in the land; but inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall be cut off from my presence.
Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 30:1
1 AND now behold, my beloved brethren, I would speak unto you; for I, Nephi, would not suffer that ye should suppose that ye are more righteous than the Gentiles shall be. For behold, except ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall all likewise perish; and because of the words which have been spoken ye need not suppose that the Gentiles are utterly destroyed.
6. Old Testament | Psalms 89:14
14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.
Old Testament | Proverbs 21:3
3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
Old Testament | Isaiah 9:7
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
7. Book of Mormon | Alma 42:24-26
24 For behold, justice exerciseth all his demands, and also mercy claimeth all which is her own; and thus, none but the truly penitent are saved.
25 What, do ye suppose that mercy can rob justice? I say unto you, Nay; not one whit. If so, God would cease to be God.
26 And thus God bringeth about his great and eternal purposes, which were prepared from the foundation of the world. And thus cometh about the salvation and the redemption of men, and also their destruction and misery.
Book of Mormon | Alma 41:14-15
14 Therefore, ... see that you are merciful unto your brethren; deal justly, judge righteously, and do good continually; and if ye do all these things then shall ye receive your reward; yea, ye shall have mercy restored unto you again; ye shall have justice restored unto you again; ye shall have a righteous judgment restored unto you again; and ye shall have good rewarded unto you again.
15 For that which ye do send out shall return unto you again, and be restored; therefore, the word restoration more fully condemneth the sinner, and justifieth him not at all.
8. Book of Mormon | Alma 45:16
16 And he said: Thus saith the Lord God—Cursed shall be the land, yea, this land, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, unto destruction, which do wickedly, when they are fully ripe; and as I have said so shall it be; for this is the cursing and the blessing of God upon the land, for the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance .
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 1:31-33
   31 For I the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance;
   32 Nevertheless, he that repents and does the commandments of the Lord shall be forgiven;
33 And he that repents not, from him shall be taken even the light which he has received; for my Spirit shall not always strive with man, saith the Lord of Hosts .

11. Pearl of Great Price | Moses 4:1
AND I, the Lord God, spake unto Moses, saying: That Satan, whom thou hast commanded in the name of mine Only Begotten, is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.
12. Old Testament | Genesis 3:4-6
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
13. (including their property but which doesn’t include hurt feelings, differences of opinion, etc.; but  especially includes protecting children from the pervasive evil and corruption  that has always targeted children through all millennia)
14. Old Testament | Isaiah 57:15
15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 20:37
37 And again, by way of commandment to the church concerning the manner of baptism—All those who humble themselves before God, and desire to be baptized, and come forth with broken hearts and contrite spirits, and witness before the church that they have truly repented of all their sins, and are willing to take upon them the name of Jesus Christ, having a determination to serve him to the end, and truly manifest by their works that they have received of the Spirit of Christ unto the remission of their sins, shall be received by baptism into his church.
15. New Testament | Matthew 18:6-7; Mark 9:42; Luke 17:2
6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
7 ¶ Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
The consequence for those who deliberately corrupted others through the counsel of Balaam was death.
Old Testament | Numbers 31:16
16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
New Testament | Revelation 2:14-16
14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
