that anyone who pursues power cannot be trusted with power?

History and current events are littered with the déjà vus of men and women from high station to low who abused the power they were given or that they took upon themselves—abuses perpetually manifest from within the microcosms of family and local institutions to the macrocosms of nations, empires, and global organizations.

The proofs are everywhere, but somehow most of us keep pretending—hoping—that we can safely trust in the arm of flesh despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, and despite all God's laments¹ (not to mention the laments of His prophets²) about the nature of mankind. The Savior Himself warned:

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;³

Why do we persist in thinking—imagining—that those who pursue power, wealth, or fame can be trusted in any degree? We seem to have so many things inverted, but C.S. Lewis puts it upright.

I am a [small d] democrat^[4] because I believe in the Fall of Man. I think most people are [small d] democrats for the opposite reason. A great deal of democratic enthusiasm descends from the ideas of people like Rousseau, who believed in democracy because they thought mankind so wise and good that everyone deserved a share in the government. The danger of defending democracy on those grounds is that they are not true. And whenever their weakness is exposed, the people who prefer tyranny make capital out of the exposure. I find that they’re not true without looking further than myself. I don’t deserve a share in governing a henroost, much less a nation. Nor do most people— all the people who believe advertisements, and think in catchwords and spread rumours. The real reason for democracy is just the reverse. Mankind is so fallen that no man can be trusted with unchecked power over his fellows.⁵

If we imagine we are personally immune from what “fallen nature” does with power, then we are tragically unprepared for what is coming—our own complicity in the “Lucifer Effect”⁶ that is enveloping the world because we seeing will not see, and hearing will not hear what our fallen nature has done, is doing, and will do when responding to situational or systemic social forces.

And where does paranoid power often flex its muscle in an attempt to puff, prove, and preserve itself?—as always, against the most weak and vulnerable—especially women, teenagers, and children. Weinstein and Epstein are only the merest tip of an immense iceberg that thousands upon thousands (high and low, Right and Left) are desperate to keep hidden in an attempt to retain their power, their wealth, their fame, their “respectability,” their jobs. Yes, many thousands have been duped into criminal behaviors in honey-pot and yacht ops, and subsequently blackmailed for their silence and cooperation in control and power agendas. Thus corrupt power continues to corrupt everything it touches and we continue to pretend that mankind is “so wise and good.”

How long, with all the headlines and witnesses of recent decades, before we finally abandon the delusion that there is “No Such Thing As This”⁷ in our advanced day and age?

How long will we continue to allow government and court records to be sealed to conceal horrific crimes and frauds under color of National Security? or for the so-called preservation of “intelligence” assets? How long must innocent or duped persons be targeted, maligned, prosecuted, or “suicided” to take the heat off the power-mongers who orchestrate it all?

How long, O God, how long?⁸

The History of Our Future?

Do we have any clue as to the subtle, orchestrated design of our present (and future) state of dire affairs?¹

Do we think our world has come to this control point through random acts of happenstance?

Do we not remember that:

»  “[Satan] goeth up and down, to and fro in the earth, seeking to destroy the souls of men.”²
»  that he first presented himself with a forked tongue; speaks out of both sides of his mouth; and is subtle and cunning beyond most imagination?
»  that he and his witting supporters thrive in secrecy, compromise, and lies?
»  that unwitting (deceived) supporters may prove even more numerous as abettors than witting ones?
»  that conspiracies and secret combinations have been and are the perpetual life-blood of control agendas?

Can we not see how most “saints” (by all appearances) have readily accepted the technologies of a “Brave New World” of unconcerned pacified surveillance and unquestioning compliance? that those who aren't pacified and compliant are already descending into an Orwellian world of censorship and control? Again, another manifestation of Satan's two-pronged, double agenda: to get every soul—both those who are coming (and getting along with the Babylonian system) and those who are going (against).

The Spirit of Power?

(Does it manifest as: The Lucifer Effect?)

The déjà vus of history establish that those who obsessively pursue and protect wealth often descend into sociopathic behaviors and justifications.¹ Jesus' observation was of a nigh 100% failure rate² for the rich to enter heaven. Nonetheless, in our world, the wealthy are often held up as paragons and treated as if their wealth entitled them to increased endowments of power as well—which brings us to the test of power and to the question: Do the powerful and those who pursue and protect power³ in this world have any better chance for heaven? Perhaps this scripture provides the answer:

We have learned by sad experience that it is the nature and disposition of almost all men, as soon as they get a little authority, as they suppose, they will immediately begin to exercise unrighteous dominion.⁴

The disturbing truth of this was demonstrated in a 1971 University study named the Standford Prison Experiment (SPE).⁵ The proposed 2-week experiment had to be terminated after 6 days because of the escalating abuse of mock prisoners by mock guards. The simulations became too real as a spirit of power seemed to overtake most of the “guards.”

The study design and aftermath are detailed in Philip Zimbardo's book: The Lucifer Effect. A search of “Standford Prison Experiment” shows how relevant and current its findings still are. Indeed, we consistently read about or witness this “Lucifer Effect” in: customs and immigration officials, police and military, politics and government, corporations, families, clergy, even ourselves. Since the examples of abuse of power are endless, WHY do we never seem to teach, warn, or raise consciousness about this “spirit of power”?

Zimbardo observes:

... The enduring interest in the SPE over many decades comes, I think, from the experiment’s startling revelation of “transformation of character”— of good people suddenly becoming perpetrators of evil as guards or pathologically passive victims as prisoners in response to situational forces acting on them.
...
We want to believe in the essential, unchanging goodness of people, in their power to resist external pressures, in their rational appraisal and then rejection of situational temptations. We invest human nature with God-like qualities, with moral and rational faculties that make us both just and wise. We simplify the complexity of human experience by erecting a seemingly impermeable boundary between Good and Evil. ... [B]y creating this myth of our invulnerability to situational forces, we set ourselves up for a fall by not being sufficiently vigilant to situational forces.

The SPE, along with much other social science research (presented in chapters 12 and 13), reveals a message we do not want to accept: that most of us can undergo significant character transformations when we are caught up in the crucible of social forces. What we imagine we would do when we are outside that crucible may bear little resemblance to who we become and what we are capable of doing once we are inside its network. The SPE is a clarion call to abandon simplistic notions of the Good Self dominating Bad Situations. We are best able to avoid, prevent, challenge, and change such negative situational forces only by recognizing their potential power to “infect us,” as it has others who were similarly situated. It is well for us to internalize the significance of the recognition by the ancient Roman comedy writer Terence that “Nothing by humans is alien to me.”

Any deed that any human being has ever committed, however horrible, is possible for any of us— under the right or wrong situational circumstances. That knowledge does not excuse evil; rather, it democratizes it, sharing its blame among ordinary actors rather than declaring it the province only of deviants and despots— of Them but not Us.

The primary simple lesson the Stanford Prison Experiment teaches is that situations matter. Social situations can have more profound effects on the behavior and mental functioning of individuals, groups, and national leaders than we might believe possible. Some situations can exert such powerful influence over us that we can be led to behave in ways we would not, could not, predict was possible in advance.⁶

So how do we overcome this “spirit of power” in situations, systems, and ourselves? How do we control this “nature and disposition of almost all men ... to exercise unrighteous dominion”? What if it is only harnessed by the power of the Spirit⁷? by seeking redemption and grace from an omniscient, loving, forgiving, holy omnipotent God⁸?

Would it make a difference if we openly acknowledged the “Lucifer Effect”? if we freely confessed how this spirit of power⁹ seems to overwhelm almost all men, including ourselves?

If we consistently raised consciousness about these two great tests and how many of us are failing them, would we be less inclined to elevate, embrace, or envy the world's love affair with power and wealth?

Dear DASB:

First, let me say how sorry I am that you have suffered so much; that you are one of the ACE¹ children whose life have been so disrupted and damaged; that what you feel and think has been so impacted forever. I have suspected in recent years that you, and perhaps others of your siblings, had suffered because of your difficult family circumstances (and because of what I have learned in recent years about the prevalence of abuse), but at the time of your youth and with your family living so far away, we never suspected anything. Such abuse was not on the radar of most common folk, even 20 years ago.

I am glad you finally wrote of it with such passion and commitment to self-determination and self-preservation. You reveal in your words what the ACE studies reveal about ACE consequences. I understand, in part, how ACE colors the whole life thereafter, and why you passionately assert “the [absolute] right for women to choose what happens to THEIR individual bodies”; that it is “MY BODY to keep or release a pregnancy as I see fit.”²

Thus, I know you are not ready to hear this now, and maybe never, but I write this here, hoping that at some future date you (or some other) may be able to appreciate the irony in what you (or they may) now believe and so passionately insist: “I can NEVER budge on—”

Can you appreciate the irony? how YOUR very own words might echo the cry of a spirit-being as its mortal mother contemplates abortion?

»  If you do not want ME—if you are not prepared to receive ME, there are others who will thank you forever for preserving ME.
»  If you are angry with God, nature, circumstance, or self for the unequal consequence (burden?) placed upon women, please do not take it out on ME.
»  If you don't believe in God, please believe in the worth/value/future of ME.

What do we reply to this voice echoing our own cries for affirmation and value? Does the suggestion of such a voice enrage us? Do we deny its value—its reality? Do we do unto the embryo/fetus what has been done to us? Or do we do unto that spirit/body (whether fully conjoined or not) what we desire to have done to our spirit/body?

In this echoing voice can we hear?

... the embryo child in a world beguiled
By rights of all but those.⁴

The additional irony in this “absolute right” is that ACE sometimes perpetuates itself, generation after generation, because some ACE children / adults become so locked into self-determinism or sometimes, self-loathing, addiction, or déjà vu that they cannot comprehend the damage they perpetuate because of the damage that was done to them.

It is difficult to understand why so much abuse and suffering is allowed, except that so many of us use our agency at the expense of others. But even in the ashes of regret, fear, disappointment, sorrow, suffering, and confusion, beauty can arise.⁵

And yes, all this “spirit-dimension” voicing can be denied or rejected, but perhaps Shakespeare was more right than we care to admit when he wrote:

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
      - Hamlet (1.5.167-8), Hamlet to Horatio.

“The DOGS of War”

(or more precisely, “The GODS of War”)

In English, the dogs of war is a phrase spoken by Mark Antony in Act 3, Scene 1, line 273 of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar: "Cry 'Havoc!,' and let slip the dogs of war."¹

Neither Shakespeare nor Plutarch, his probable source, would have understood how apt that phrase and the “anagram” (DOGS) would prove, particularly beginning in the 19th Century² and now escalated to unbelievable proportions as GODS in our 21st Century.

And, it is doubtful, WE will ever understand:

» the dire state of our world—of our idolatry and gods;
» the machinations and secret combinations of the many without conscience who pursue and protect power and gain at any and every cost; or
» the cryptic words of prophecy,

until WE understand and admit what underpins (and helps explain) them all, being

▪ Guns
▪ Oil
▪ Drugs
▪ Sex

Could these four prove a layered, intertwining dimension of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse?³

Guns: Behold a déjà vu historical reality: the guy with the advanced, fastest, and most weapons wins⁴—BUT for the guys manufacturing, selling, or profiting in weapons, the goal is a “balance of weapons-power.” If no one can permanently win, then war (or more subtlety and preferably, proxy-wars) can go on forever, necessitating the production and consumption of more and more weapons (not to mention of oil, gas, etc.), thus preserving:

»  profits of war;
»  perpetual clean-ups and reconstructions;
»  perpetual (and increasing) funding of Military Industrial/Intelligence Complexes (MIICs) and their contractors;
»  surreptitious selling of patents, trade-secrets, weapons, materials & minerals for private profit.

Why, indeed, would weaponizers and profiteers want an end to war when war is the most lucrative business imaginable⁵? Remember the threat: “I will buy up armies and navies, [false priests who oppress] and reign with blood and horror on this earth.”⁶

Oil: The exposés of what has been done (and often suppressed) about crimes, corruptions, and deceptions engaged in, in the pursuit of oil, gas, and minerals are numerous and known by those who care to know. The treasures extracted from the veins of mother earth still govern world affairs, economics, and conflict. Is it not incredibly ironic that the $1,000.00 loan to John D. Rockefeller (JDR) that eventually led⁸ to the founding of the soon-to-be monopolistic Standard Oil company was given to JDR (late 1850s) by his snake-oil salesman father, William Avery Rockefeller (WAR), aka “Devil Bill”⁹? JDR's apparent co-founder of Standard Oil was also WAR (William Avery Rockefeller, Jr.). Could the gods of irony be any more transparent? Could there be any greater vehicle to fund the agenda of total domination and control than controlling the world's energy sectors? even the forthcoming, so-called, green ones?

Drugs: Why do we have such a drug crisis? Could it be because the powers-that-be are not fighting drugs, but pretending to—allowing only the selective prosecution of low-level dealers or unauthorized/uncooperative high-level competitors? In suppressed truth, the dominating powers are participating in and protecting the growth, manufacture, and running of drugs in every conceivable way for massive profit. They trade weapons for drugs, overtly or secretly weaponizing even so-called enemies in the process. The drug-running through Mena Arkansas was only the tip of an iceberg that still seeks to hide reality, accountability, and a host of sins and sinners under the pejorative “conspiracy theory.” But the warning and exposing voices are too numerous to discount. If only WE would allow ourselves to see and hear the reality: Drug-running is helping fund MIICs, private contractors, and black-ops that are tearing our world apart. The justification of doing bad things for good purpose—fighting socialist/communist ideologies—is pure fraud and self-deception¹⁰ as the very ones who “justify” are the same ones surreptitiously selling or allowing the sale of materials, weapons, and technology to their alleged “enemies” often for drugs—then selling the drugs (through criminal affiliations) to their own “expendable” citizens. In the end, what does drug-running and war exacerbate but disease, famine, death, and conquest of body and soul?

Sex: The pillage, rape, and plunder of humanity has forever been the legacy of war, BUT in these latter-days of surveillance technology, sex has also become the greatest entrapment/blackmail weapon ever wielded to puppeteer kings/queens, princes, presidents, PMs, popes, cardinals, priests, generals, politicians, bankers, producers, actors, and a myriad other useful human assets. Over the years, many moral taboos have fallen victim to prevalence till we have come to the last taboo: pedophilia. And so the gods and dogs of war continue, creating more and more orphans and other victims of crime and chaos to feed power, greed, and the last taboo.

Where is the nation? where are the people? who will reject the gods of war? who will NEVER “let slip the dogs of war” for the sake of power and profit? Where are the presidents, politicians, broadcasters, citizens with courage?

Where is the resounding voice of WE, THE PEOPLE???

The Test of Power?

Most of us probably think we are immune to the “spirit of power” that seems to overtake those who rise to, or are appointed or elected to positions of power; a spirit that oft envelopes even those who merely simulate power scenarios as was illustrated in this video³ presented several years ago; a spirit also described here:

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.⁴

Two of the great tests in this world, documented déjà vu on déjà vu, are the test of wealth and the test of power, both of which foster and flourish in secret combinations.⁵

Too bad more of us do not recognize the expressions of power in ourselves and in those we elevate to power, and why most seldom manifest in office what was promised in campaign. If there were more awareness and exposure of the dark "nature and disposition" of power in almost every human heart, maybe more of us would pass the test.
