Suicidal Empathy?

From recent hearings in Washington and elsewhere (from Epstein to MK-Ultra to grooming gangs to Fauci to Sharia Law and on and on), we are discovering (again) how far the West has fallen from its promise; how ready we have been to tolerate corruption, inversion, deception, and coercive intolerance¹; how quick to let alleged compassion, kindness, and empathy subvert long established values and truths; how prone to watch the old ways, so despised by Mao-types,² be disparaged and dismantled.

The term suicidal empathy³ aptly describes the state we are in. Do we recognize it in ourselves? Should tolerance and empathy have "rules, boundaries, and limitations"? Do we imagine we are following the way of Christian compassion by ignoring or excusing behaviors or systems that coerce, distort, deceive, dominate, or destroy others? And lastly, have we as a religious community left our mission of crying repentance for a message of "just be you" (i.e., who you think / feel you are without considering "the measure of your creation")?

How soon we seem to forget what Jesus said to the tyrants and deceivers of his day⁴ — a far cry from the Dignity Index⁵ that could be used to stifle criticism or exposure of the dangers of suicidal empathy.

Brief note to the OFFENDED: Just because allowing "comments" is a blogger's option, it does not mean every blogger must conform to the "expectations" of others. Every soul can consult the Spirit and decide what is best and right in their circumstance. And if one has a blanket policy not to read another's work because there is no opportunity to comment, it seems one has closed oneself off to potential guidance of the Spirit. Besides, in this world of "overwhelm," the guidance of the Spirit is the best resource we have to lead us to things of importance in our unique life. So, if you have found your way here, perhaps there are a few things of import for you here. I try to trust the Spirit to lead me likewise to things of import within my purpose and priorities.
