For many years, I have wondered if it were a
masque of love that persuaded a third part
1 of the spirits in heaven to choose Satan's plan? When Satan came before God and said
Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it;2
would he not have also come before us (spirit beings in the first estate
3) to present his high motives; to lament that God's plan was so risk-laden — so deficient — that it could not compare to his “redeem all” plan,
4 especially when, (with a flourish) he waved his copy of God's full-disclosure clause and read with pointed emphasis:
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.5
How (Satan might have argued) did such a disclosure not transparently reveal
who loved who most? Were we so blind we could not recognize
his greater love that guaranteed no loss — no destruction? Wasn't love about giving not suffering? about freedom not punishment or threats? about dreams, happiness, success? about getting what one most desires? about just being who one is? deciding for oneself? about not having to do, do, do stuff one doesn't care about or want to do? Isn't that what love does for self and others?
In all the contest of words,
6 what might have been Satan's proofs of that love? Was it a “love” that dispensed with law and punishment?
7 that promised “real” freedom? that discounted grace because what good is grace for those who choose autonomy, sovereignty, or the “broad way”? And where
is true freedom if there is destructive consequence for being a law unto oneself?
8
In any event, a third part believed the father-of-lies
9 and kept not their first estate. And if this supposition has merit concerning our first estate, why abandon the “love” strategy vis-à-vis the other spirits who would be advancing into their second estate — into this physical realm with veiled memory? especially with the “wide gate” of the added flesh
10 component. Yes, the successful navigation of the second estate held indescribable promise according to the Father's plan:
Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.11
For man is spirit. The elements are eternal, and spirit and element, inseparably connected, receive a fulness of joy; And when separated, man cannot receive a fulness of joy. The elements are the tabernacle of God; yea, man is the tabernacle of God, even temples;12
BUT (as Satan might have continued), the challenge entailed in taking on gross (entropic) matter (under the Father's plan) would be beyond every imagination and beyond every human capacity. Did we not understand that lust
13 and power abuse
14 were so intrinsic to flesh (gross matter) that no animating spirit (except
perhaps for the Promised One
15) would be able to refine, by their own effort, even that small portion of gross matter (the physical body) over which they would be given stewardship? Did we not comprehend what would happen when conjoining gross matter with spirit? that the Father did not view this as a game, adventure, simulation, or joy-ride? It was a proving ground
16 with potentially devastating consequences. Individuated spirits would be going into a war zone of competing powers and interests, and expected to bring their own warring duality of flesh and spirit
17 toward an advanced, purified, and perfect unity — a unity of
enduring, refined matter (spirit) as the Father
claims:
There is no such thing as immaterial matter. All spirit is matter, but it is more fine or pure, and can only be discerned by purer eyes; We cannot see it; but when our bodies are purified we shall see that it is all matter.18
Did we not realize that when the Father wrote “few” he meant few and when he wrote “many” he meant many because the endeavor would be so formidable — so arduous that
not even one (except
perhaps that One) would have any hope without the intervention of
some promised Mercy and Grace? Surely we could see that there was certainty in his plan, but none in the Father's.
Perhaps the Father had answered: There is no other way for Me and Truth and Justice and Intelligence (co-eternals with Me and you
19) to entrust any of you
20 with the power that comes as sons and daughters and heirs except you be tried, tested, and proven in a world that persecutes, oppresses, and wars against
21 the measure of your creation. Yes, everyone of you will fail Truth, Love, Justice, and the measure of your creation multiple times, but the Spirit and Mind of Christ will be sufficient to justify and sanctify
22 all who endure in seeking Love and Truth, whether in the worst or best of circumstances — being all those who accept the Grace that can actualize every repentant, willing soul.
SO, is the
masque of LOVE that perhaps captivated so many in the first estate manifesting anywhere here in the second? I do not know for sure, but I have noticed how LOVE has become the catchword / watchword of so many new gurus of the world; of some OBE,
23 NDE,
24 and psychedelic reports; of “I am infinite love”;
25 of “My Big TOE”;
26 and of some awakenings to self-magnificence.
27 Many espouse several of the following claims, but if we run this “love” through
the prism of scripture,
28 can we hear any possible echoes from before Eden?
● Love is paramount, unconditional, and everything — an overwhelming sensation of complete, enveloping acceptance and caring.
● There is neither justice nor judgment in any degree; no law external to oneself; no sovereign above the sovereign self; no criticism; no agenda; no expectation; no need to forgive or seek forgiveness.
● A sense of personal divinity and magnificence, autonomy, sovereignty, and oneness with all creation; the “I” becomes the Source of all things and the Source becomes “me.”
● Each is personally responsible for what happens in their life; each creates their own reality.
● The law of attraction or the law of allowance governs each life; the infinite Universe is at one's disposal.
● Rejection of religion, belief, tradition, expectations; elevation of inner sovereign spirituality.
● Fear is the opposite of love (and vice versa).
● “We are just supposed to come here and feel good about ourselves and about life—just express ourselves and have fun with it!” “If I love myself, everyone else will love me, too.” “Every aspect of you is perfect. There's nothing to let go, nothing to forgive, nothing to attain. You are already everything you need to be.”
● Physical reality is more like a sleep state or simulation from which we can wake up.
● Multiple-lives / multi-incarnations, some unfolding in parallel dimensions.
● Everything is unfolding as it should (is perfect) in a present now.
● Rejection of hierarchy.29
● Promoting OBEs for consciousness raising.
● Increasing love (order? i.e., lowering entropy) as the universal, all-encompassing goal.
● “If I am happy, the Universe is happy.”
Some of these may have parallels in Divine Truth and higher realms, but if Satan can present himself as an angel of light,
30 what could he not simulate (as the great deceiver) for those who have not encountered the real God?
31 It seems that so much of what we are encountering is like an imitation game where Truth is twisted and bedazzled just enough to remain enticingly mysterious and amazingly quantum(?). This is not to say that much of the unconditional love experienced, especially in NDEs, is not genuine. It is to say, rather, that God is able to reconcile seemingly irreconcilable contraries and interpretations; that most NDEs are obviously not a time of judgment as life will go on; and that "oneness" is the primordial condition that we have been veiled to and yet striving toward on a differentiated level in this second estate.
So, all this love talk makes me wonder if many of us are setting ourselves up for a devastating (inverse) déjà vu. If the Jewish hierarchy and others could reject a long-anticipated Messiah because He came as a meek Lamb when they expected an avenging Lion, what about us? What are we priming ourselves to receive the second time round? another meek, loving Lamb? What if He comes as a Lion of Justice and Judgment?
32 What if, within our own sovereign selves, we are not even watching or caring?

Doctrine and Covenants | Section 29:36–37 ~ And it came to pass that Adam, being tempted of the devil—for, behold, the devil was before Adam, for he rebelled against me, saying, Give me thine honor, which is my power; and also
a third part of the hosts of heaven turned he away from me because of their agency; And they were thrust down, and thus came the devil and his angels;

Pearl of Great Price | Moses 4:1 ~ AND I, the Lord God, spake unto Moses, saying: That Satan, whom thou hast commanded in the name of mine Only Begotten, is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that
one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.

First Estate:
New Testament | Jude 1:6 ~ And the angels which kept not
their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
Pearl of Great Price | Abraham 3:26–28 ~ And they who keep
their first estate shall be added upon; and they who keep not
their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their
first estate; and they who keep
their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever. And the Lord said: Whom shall I send? And one answered like unto the Son of Man: Here am I, send me. And another answered and said: Here am I, send me. And the Lord said: I will send the first. And the second was angry, and
kept not his first estate; and, at that day, many followed after him.

New Testament | Matthew 7:13–14;
Book of Mormon | 3 Nephi 14:14; 27:33
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 132:22–24 ~ For strait is the gate, and narrow the way that leadeth unto the exaltation and continuation of the lives, and few there be that find it, because ye receive me not in the world neither do ye know me. But if ye receive me in the world, then shall ye know me, and shall receive your exaltation; that where I am ye shall be also. This is eternal lives—to know the only wise and true God, and Jesus Christ, whom he hath sent. I am he. Receive ye, therefore, my law.

New Testament | Revelation 12:7–9 ~ And there was
war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
7.
Law / Punishment:
New Testament | Romans 4:15 ~ ... for where no law is, there is no transgression.
New Testament | Romans 5:13 ~ ... but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 2:13 ~ And if ye shall say there is no law, ye shall also say there is no sin. If ye shall say there is no sin, ye shall also say there is no righteousness. And if there be no righteousness there be no happiness. And if there be no righteousness nor happiness there be no punishment nor misery. And if these things are not there is no God. And if there is no God we are not, neither the earth; for there could have been no creation of things, neither to act nor to be acted upon; wherefore, all things must have vanished away.
Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 9:25–27 ~ Wherefore, he has given a law; and where there is no law given there is no punishment; and where there is no punishment there is no condemnation; and where there is no condemnation the mercies of the Holy One of Israel have claim upon them, because of the atonement; for they are delivered by the power of him. For the atonement satisfieth the demands of his justice upon all those who have not the law given to them, that they are delivered from that awful monster, death and hell, and the devil, and the lake of fire and brimstone, which is endless torment; and they are restored to that God who gave them breath, which is the Holy One of Israel. But wo unto him that has the law given, yea, that has all the commandments of God, like unto us, and that transgresseth them, and that wasteth the days of his probation, for awful is his state!
Book of Mormon | Alma 42:17–26 ~ Now, how could a man repent except he should sin? How could he sin if there was no law? How could there be a law save there was a punishment? Now, there was a punishment affixed, and a just law given, which brought remorse of conscience unto man. Now, if there was no law given—if a man murdered he should die—would he be afraid he would die if he should murder? And also, if there was no law given against sin men would not be afraid to sin. And if there was no law given, if men sinned what could justice do, or mercy either, for they would have no claim upon the creature? But there is a law given, and a punishment affixed, and a repentance granted; which repentance, mercy claimeth; otherwise, justice claimeth the creature and executeth the law, and the law inflicteth the punishment; if not so, the works of justice would be destroyed, and God would cease to be God. But God ceaseth not to be God, and mercy claimeth the penitent, and mercy cometh because of the atonement; and the atonement bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead; and the resurrection of the dead bringeth back men into the presence of God; and thus they are restored into his presence, to be judged according to their works, according to the law and justice. For behold, justice exerciseth all his demands, and also mercy claimeth all which is her own; and thus, none but the truly penitent are saved. What, do ye suppose that mercy can rob justice? I say unto you, Nay; not one whit. If so, God would cease to be God. And thus God bringeth about his great and eternal purposes, which were prepared from the foundation of the world. And thus cometh about the salvation and the redemption of men, and also their destruction and misery.
8.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 88:35 ~ That which breaketh a law, and abideth not by law, but seeketh to become a law unto itself, and willeth to abide in sin, and altogether abideth in sin, cannot be sanctified by law, neither by mercy, justice, nor judgment. Therefore, they must remain filthy still.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 1:16 ~ They seek not the Lord to establish his righteousness, but every man walketh in his own way, and after the image of his own god, whose image is in the likeness of the world, and whose substance is that of an idol,
9.
father of lies:
New Testament | John 8:44 ~ Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 93:25 ~ ... the spirit of that wicked one who was a liar from the beginning.
Book of Mormon | Ether 8:25 ~ For it cometh to pass that whoso buildeth it up seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who is the father of all lies; even that same liar who beguiled our first parents, yea, even that same liar who hath caused man to commit murder from the beginning; who hath hardened the hearts of men that they have murdered the prophets, and stoned them, and cast them out from the beginning.
Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 9:8–9 ~ O the wisdom of God, his mercy and grace! For behold, if the flesh should rise no more our spirits must become subject to that angel who fell from before the presence of the Eternal God, and became the devil, to rise no more. And our spirits must have become like unto him, and we become devils, angels to a devil, to be shut out from the presence of our God, and to remain with the father of lies, in misery, like unto himself; yea, to that being who beguiled our first parents, who transformeth himself nigh unto an angel of light, and stirreth up the children of men unto secret combinations of murder and all manner of secret works of darkness.
10.
Flesh:
New Testament | Matthew 26:41~ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the
flesh is weak.
New Testament | Romans 8:5–14 ~ For they that are after the
flesh do mind the things of the
flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the
flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the
flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
New Testament | Galatians 6:7-8 ~ Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his
flesh shall of the
flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
New Testament | 1 Peter 4:2 ~ That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the
flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

Lust:
Remember the three temptations:
New Testament | Matthew 4 and Luke 4 and also:
Old Testament | Psalms 81:12 ~ So I gave them up unto their own hearts'
lust: and they walked in their own counsels.
Old Testament | Psalms 106:13–14 ~ They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: But
lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
New Testament | Mark 4:19 ~ And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the
lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
New Testament | John 8:44 ~ Ye are of your father the devil, and the
lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
New Testament | Romans 1:24–27 ~ Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the
lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their
lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
New Testament | Romans 6:12 ~ Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the
lusts thereof.
New Testament | Romans 13:14 ~ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the
lusts thereof.
New Testament | Galatians 5:16–17, 24 ~ This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the
lust of the flesh. For the flesh
lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. ... And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and
lusts.
New Testament | Ephesians 4:22–24 ~ That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful
lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
New Testament | 1 Timothy 6:9 ~ But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful
lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
New Testament | 2 Timothy 4:3–4 ~ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own
lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
New Testament | Titus 2:11–12 ~ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly
lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
New Testament | James 1:14–15 ~ But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own
lust, and enticed. Then when
lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
New Testament | James 4:1–4 ~ FROM whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your
lusts that war in your members? Ye
lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your
lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
New Testament | 1 Peter 2:11 ~ Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly
lusts, which war against the soul;
New Testament | 1 Peter 4:2–3 ~ That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the
lusts of men, but to the will of God. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness,
lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
New Testament | 2 Peter 2:9–10 ~ The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the
lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
New Testament | 2 Peter 2:18–19 ~ For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the
lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
New Testament | 2 Peter 3:3 ~ Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own
lusts,
New Testament | 1 John 2:15–17 ~ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the
lust of the flesh, and the
lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the
lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
New Testament | Jude 1:15–19 ~ To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own
lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly
lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
Book of Mormon | 1 Nephi 22:23 ~ For the time speedily shall come that all churches which are built up to get gain, and all those who are built up to get power over the flesh, and those who are built up to become popular in the eyes of the world, and those who seek the
lusts of the flesh and the things of the world, and to do all manner of iniquity; yea, in fine, all those who belong to the kingdom of the devil are they who need fear, and tremble, and quake; they are those who must be brought low in the dust; they are those who must be consumed as stubble; and this is according to the words of the prophet.
Book of Mormon | Alma 39:9 ~ Now my son, I would that ye should repent and forsake your sins, and go no more after the
lusts of your eyes, but cross yourself in all these things; for except ye do this ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God. Oh, remember, and take it upon you, and cross yourself in these things.
Book of Mormon | Alma 42:10 ~ Therefore, as they had become
carnal, sensual, and devilish, by nature, this probationary state became a state for them to prepare; it became a preparatory state.
Book of Mormon | Mormon 9:28 ~ Be wise in the days of your probation; strip yourselves of all uncleanness; ask not, that ye may consume it on your
lusts, but ask with a firmness unshaken, that ye will yield to no temptation, but that ye will serve the true and living God.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 88:121 ~ Therefore, cease from all your light speeches, from all laughter, from all your
lustful desires, from all your pride and light-mindedness, and from all your wicked doings.

Promised One
New Testament | 2 Corinthians 5:21 ~ For he hath made him [Jesus Christ] to be sin for us, who
knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
New Testament | 1 Peter 2:21–22 ~ For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who
did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
New Testament | 1 John 3:5 ~ And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is
no sin.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 45:3–4 ~ Listen to him who is the advocate with the Father, who is pleading your cause before him— Saying: Father, behold the sufferings and death of him
who did no sin, in whom thou wast well pleased; behold the blood of thy Son which was shed, the blood of him whom thou gavest that thyself might be glorified;
New Testament | Hebrews 4:14–16 ~ Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet
without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
New Testament | Hebrews 9:28 ~ So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time
without sin unto salvation.
16.
Proving Ground:
Book of Mormon | 1 Nephi 15:32 ~ ... for the day should come that they must be judged of their works, yea, even the works which were done by the temporal body in their days of
probation.
Book of Mormon | Alma 12:24 ~ And we see that death comes upon mankind, yea, the death which has been spoken of by Amulek, which is the temporal death; nevertheless there was a space granted unto man in which he might repent; therefore this life became a
probationary state; a time to prepare to meet God; a time to prepare for that endless state which has been spoken of by us, which is after the resurrection of the dead.
Pearl of Great Price | Abraham 3:25–26 ~ And we will
prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them; And they who keep their first estate shall be added upon; and they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever.
17.
Warring duality:
New Testament | Galatians 5:16–24 ~ This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the
works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the
fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Co-eternal:
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 93:26–31 ~ The Spirit of truth is of God. I am the Spirit of truth, and John bore record of me, saying: He received a fulness of truth, yea, even of all truth; And no man receiveth a fulness unless he keepeth his commandments. He that keepeth his commandments receiveth truth and light, until he is glorified in truth and knoweth all things. Man was also in the beginning with God.
Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be. All truth is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act for itself, as all intelligence also; otherwise there is no existence. Behold, here is the agency of man, and here is the condemnation of man; because that which was from the beginning is plainly manifest unto them, and they receive not the light.

Book of Mormon | Alma 34:33–36 ~ ... behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed. Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful crisis, that I will repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life,
that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world. For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his; therefore, the Spirit of the Lord hath withdrawn from you, and hath no place in you, and the devil hath all power over you; and this is the final state of the wicked. And this I know, because the Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell; yea, and he has also said that the righteous shall sit down in his kingdom, to go no more out; but their garments should be made white through the blood of the Lamb.

persecute the poor:

persecution: we labour, and have no rest.
Old Testament | Ezekiel 22:27–29 ~ Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain. And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken. The people of the land have used
oppression, and exercised robbery, and have
vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have
oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
New Testament | Matthew 5:10–12 ~ Blessed are they which are
persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall
revile you, and
persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so
persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
New Testament | Mark 4:17 ~ And [they, seed fallen on stony ground] have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when
affliction or
persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
New Testament | John 15:18–20 ~ If the world hate you, ye know that it
hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world
hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have
persecuted me, they will also
persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
New Testament | John 16:33 ~ These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have
tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

tribulations that ye endure: Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also
suffer:
New Testament | 2 Timothy 3:12 ~ Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer
persecution.
New Testament | 1 Peter 4:12–13 ~ Beloved, think it not strange concerning the
fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's
sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
New Testament | Revelation 7:14 ~ ... These are they which came out of great

tribulation, in a wilderness, and
hated of our brethren, which caused wars and contentions; wherefore, we did mourn out our days.
Book of Mormon | Mosiah 27:32 ~ preaching the word of God in much
tribulation, being greatly

tribulation and
anguish of soul, because of the wickedness of the people
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 54:10 ~ And again, be patient in
tribulation until I come; and, behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, and they who have sought me early shall find rest to their souls.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 58:2–4 ~ For verily I say unto you, blessed is he that keepeth my commandments, whether in life or in death; and he that is faithful in
tribulation, the reward of the same is greater in the kingdom of heaven. Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much
tribulation. For after much
tribulation come the blessings.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 103:12–13 ~ For after much
tribulation, as I have said unto you in a former commandment, cometh the blessing. Behold, this is the blessing which I have promised after your
tribulations, and the
tribulations of your brethren—your redemption, and the redemption of your brethren, even their restoration to the land of Zion, to be established, no more to be thrown down.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 88:94 ~ That great church, the mother of abominations, that made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, that
persecuteth the saints of God, that shed their blood—she who sitteth upon many waters, and upon the islands of the sea—behold, she is the tares of the earth;
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 101:35–36 ~ And all they who suffer
persecution for my name, and endure in faith, though they are called to lay down their lives for my sake yet shall they partake of all this glory. Wherefore, fear not even unto death; for in this world your joy is not full, but in me your joy is full.

tribulation in their Redeemer's name. All these had departed the mortal life, firm in the hope of a glorious resurrection, through the grace of God the Father and his Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

Justified / Sanctified:
New Testament | Ephesians 2:1–8 ~ AND you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
New Testament | Titus 3:3–7 ~ For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being
justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
New Testament | 2 Peter 1:3–4 ~ According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
New Testament | John 17:17–19 ~
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I
sanctify myself, that they also might be
sanctified through the truth.
New Testament | Acts 20:32 ~ And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are
sanctified.
New Testament | Acts 26:18 ~ To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are

New Testament | Hebrews 10:10, 14 ~ By the which will we are
sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ... For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are
sanctified.
Book of Mormon | Moroni 10:32–33 ~ Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God. And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect in Christ, and deny not his power, then are ye
sanctified in Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the blood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father unto the remission of your sins, that ye become holy, without spot.
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 20:31 ~ And we know also, that
sanctification through the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is just and true, to all those who love and serve God with all their mights, minds, and strength.
Pearl of Great Price | Moses 6:59–60 ~ That by reason of transgression cometh the fall, which fall bringeth death, and inasmuch as ye were born into the world by water, and blood, and the spirit, which I have made, and so became of dust a living soul, even so ye must be born again into the kingdom of heaven, of water, and of the Spirit, and be cleansed by blood, even the blood of mine Only Begotten; that ye might be
sanctified from all sin, and enjoy the words of eternal life in this world, and eternal life in the world to come, even immortal glory; For by the water ye keep the commandment; by the Spirit ye are
justified, and by the blood ye are
sanctified;
Doctrine and Covenants | Section 101:5–6 ~ For all those who will not endure chastening, but deny me, cannot be
sanctified. Behold, I say unto you, there were jarrings, and contentions, and envyings, and strifes, and lustful and covetous desires among them; therefore by these things they polluted their inheritances.

Pearl of Great Price | Moses 1:13–15 ~ And it came to pass that Moses looked upon Satan and said: Who art thou? For behold, I am a son of God, in the similitude of his Only Begotten; and where is thy glory, that I should worship thee? For behold, I could not look upon God, except his glory should come upon me, and I were transfigured before him. But I can look upon thee in the natural man. Is it not so, surely? Blessed be the name of my God, for his Spirit hath not altogether withdrawn from me, or else where is thy glory, for it is darkness unto me? And I can judge between thee and God;
JST: New Testament | 1 Timothy 6:15–16 ~ ... the King of kings, and Lord of lords, to whom be honor and power everlasting; Whom no man hath seen, nor can see, to whom no man can approach, only he who hath the light and the hope of immortality dwelling in him.

justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
Book of Mormon | Alma 60:13 ~ For the Lord suffereth the righteous to be slain that his

justice and judgment are the penalty which is affixed unto my law.
Pearl of Great Price | Moses 6:61 ~ Therefore it is given to abide in you; the record of heaven; the Comforter; the peaceable things of immortal glory; the truth of all things; that which quickeneth all things, which maketh alive all things; that which knoweth all things, and hath all power according to wisdom, mercy, truth,
justice, and judgment.
