In these latter days, with all the hyper-ventilating by right-wing conservatives and their disciples about the insidious advance of a socialist / communist tyranny,1 one might seriously believe that the original soundtrack of the angel flying in the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice,
Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. (New Testament | Revelation 14:7)has been updated to
Fear the socialist / communist; and give glory to the capitalist system for all her riches and delicacies; and worship2 the free-market that made heaven attainable, and converted the earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters into private property, etc., etc.Except perhaps, we should return to the next original verse:
And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. (New Testament | Revelation 14:8)So here again, we encounter Babylon as the enemy of God and Creation. Do we really think that Babylon’s chief voice is that of the socialist / communist who advocates:
▪ equality and a classless society? We seem to be missing the repeated message of those neglected voices from the dust4—those déjà vu pleadings from Book of Mormon prophets and seers who cried against:
▪ equity and justice for the proletariat (working class)?
▪ humbling of the bourgeois (wealthy elite)?
▪ common property and ownership?
▪ contempt for religion and the abuses of religion?
▪ etc.3 (For clarity, read the footnote.)
▪ inequality and dividing into classes;5How many times must we be told in the Book of Mormon that threatened tyranny from Lamanites, dissenters, kingsmen, Gadiantons, secret combinations, etc. was almost never a real threat until after the majority of the people9 had, in the exercise of their agency, rejected the ways of truth, justice, mercy, love, and so forth as they pursued the ways of Babylon—the ways of power and gain, pride and inequality?
▪ despising the poor and needy;6
▪ pride and the wearing of costly apparel;7
▪ building up churches for gain;8
▪ etc. (Read all the verses in these footnotes and ask: What system do these words describe?)
Can we not see that:
▪ a tyranny like socialism / communism (or even a NWO) is stage two in a two-stage degeneration? The promises of God to the faithful are repeated time and again, beginning with Moses:
▪ tyranny, by consequence, overcomes after people have first been captivated by error (by Babylonian philosophies) with flatteries, riches, vain things, inequalities, pride, etc.?
▪ we don’t understand much of cause and effect, truth and consequence relating to spiritual matters because we refuse to acknowledge the transrational—the science of Heaven10?
▪ spiritual laws governing growth and progression, justice and mercy, flesh and spirit, life and death can be as unyielding to corruption, ignorance, egoism, or hubris as certain laws of physics and chemistry?
▪ tyranny can be a linear consequence that God makes use of in working out His transrational purposes within the agency of man?
And the Lord God said unto me: They shall be a scourge unto thy seed, to stir them up in remembrance of me; and inasmuch as they will not remember me, and hearken unto my words, they shall scourge them even unto destruction. (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 5:25)
The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. (Old Testament | Deuteronomy 28:7; see numerous others at footnote 11 below.)It seems we have a terrible time admitting that “Fear God” means “repent OR face the mien of Justice.” Instead, we keep pursuing the ways and means of the flesh,12 of the world, of Babylon—being immersed in a corrupted, capitalist, corporatist system—where we spend a fortune arming against enemies and scaring ourselves because we have already sold ourselves.
The tragic fact is that IF tyranny, of whatever nature, becomes a serious threat, it is likely we have already fallen to the seductions and errors of the world by our own free will and choice (and maybe ignorance).
The good news is—there is a way back. It is to turn around13 before it’s too late. It is to heed the sound of the (transrational) trump.

1. Communism being the political system that uses extreme socialism as its economic system. For those who will see, Zion and Socialism / Communism share many features, but the critical difference is that one is freely chosen; the other is administered through coercion. And if we think coercion is the main tool of the adversary, I suggest we are mistaken. He captivates far more souls through their agency, than will ever be eternally enslaved through coercion. 3. (most of which turn out, in practice, to be a sham, as “leftist” leaders get caught up in the seductions of power and gain)
4. Doctrine and Covenants | Section 84:54-58 ~ And your minds in times past have been darkened because of unbelief, and because you have treated lightly the things you have received—Which vanity and unbelief have brought the whole church under condemnation. And this condemnation resteth upon the children of Zion, even all. And they shall remain under this condemnation until they repent and remember the new covenant, even the Book of Mormon and the former commandments which I have given them, not only to say, but to do according to that which I have written—That they may bring forth fruit meet for their Father's kingdom; otherwise there remaineth a scourge and judgment to be poured out upon the children of Zion.
5. Book of Mormon | Mosiah 29:32 ~ And now I desire that this inequality should be no more in this land, especially among this my people; but I desire that this land be a land of liberty, and every man may enjoy his rights and privileges alike, so long as the Lord sees fit that we may live and inherit the land, yea, even as long as any of our posterity remains upon the face of the land.
Book of Mormon | 3 Nephi 6:10-18 ~ But it came to pass in the twenty and ninth year there began to be some disputings among the people; and some were lifted up unto pride and boastings because of their exceedingly great riches, yea, even unto great persecutions; For there were many merchants in the land, and also many lawyers, and many officers. And the people began to be distinguished by ranks, according to their riches and their chances for learning; yea, some were ignorant because of their poverty, and others did receive great learning because of their riches. Some were lifted up in pride, and others were exceedingly humble; some did return railing for railing, while others would receive railing and persecution and all manner of afflictions, and would not turn and revile again, but were humble and penitent before God. And thus there became a great inequality in all the land, insomuch that the church began to be broken up; yea, insomuch that in the thirtieth year the church was broken up in all the land save it were among a few of the Lamanites who were converted unto the true faith; and they would not depart from it, for they were firm, and steadfast, and immovable, willing with all diligence to keep the commandments of the Lord. Now the cause of this iniquity of the people was this—Satan had great power, unto the stirring up of the people to do all manner of iniquity, and to the puffing them up with pride, tempting them to seek for power, and authority, and riches, and the vain things of the world. And thus Satan did lead away the hearts of the people to do all manner of iniquity; therefore they had enjoyed peace but a few years. And thus, in the commencement of the thirtieth year—the people having been delivered up for the space of a long time to be carried about by the temptations of the devil whithersoever he desired to carry them, and to do whatsoever iniquity he desired they should—and thus in the commencement of this, the thirtieth year, they were in a state of awful wickedness. Now they did not sin ignorantly, for they knew the will of God concerning them, for it had been taught unto them; therefore they did wilfully rebel against God.
6. Book of Mormon | Alma 4:12 ~ Yea, he saw great inequality among the people, some lifting themselves up with their pride, despising others, turning their backs upon the needy and the naked and those who were hungry, and those who were athirst, and those who were sick and afflicted.
Book of Mormon | Alma 5:53-55 ~ And now my beloved brethren, I say unto you, can ye withstand these sayings; yea, can ye lay aside these things, and trample the Holy One under your feet; yea, can ye be puffed up in the pride of your hearts; yea, will ye still persist in the wearing of costly apparel and setting your hearts upon the vain things of the world, upon your riches? Yea, will ye persist in supposing that ye are better one than another; yea, will ye persist in the persecution of your brethren, … Yea, and will you persist in turning your backs upon the poor, and the needy, and in withholding your substance from them?
Book of Mormon | Alma 28:13 ~ And thus we see how great the inequality of man is because of sin and transgression, and the power of the devil, which comes by the cunning plans which he hath devised to ensnare the hearts of men.
7. Book of Mormon | Alma 1:4-6 ~ And [Nehor] also testified unto the people that all mankind should be saved at the last day, and that they need not fear nor tremble, but that they might lift up their heads and rejoice; for the Lord had created all men, and had also redeemed all men; and, in the end, all men should have eternal life. And it came to pass that he did teach these things so much that many did believe on his words, even so many that they began to support him and give him money. And he began to be lifted up in the pride of his heart, and to wear very costly apparel, yea, and even began to establish a church after the manner of his preaching.
Book of Mormon | Alma 1:32 ~ For those who did not belong to their church did indulge themselves in sorceries, and in idolatry or idleness, and in babblings, and in envyings and strife; wearing costly apparel; being lifted up in the pride of their own eyes; persecuting, lying, thieving, robbing, committing whoredoms, and murdering, and all manner of wickedness; nevertheless, the law was put in force upon all those who did transgress it, inasmuch as it was possible.
Book of Mormon | Alma 4:6-11 ~ And it came to pass in the eighth year of the reign of the judges, that the people of the church began to wax proud, because of their exceeding riches, and their fine silks, and their fine-twined linen, and because of their many flocks and herds, and their gold and their silver, and all manner of precious things, which they had obtained by their industry; and in all these things were they lifted up in the pride of their eyes, for they began to wear very costly apparel. Now this was the cause of much affliction to Alma, yea, and to many of the people whom Alma had consecrated to be teachers, and priests, and elders over the church; yea, many of them were sorely grieved for the wickedness which they saw had begun to be among their people. For they saw and beheld with great sorrow that the people of the church began to be lifted up in the pride of their eyes, and to set their hearts upon riches and upon the vain things of the world, that they began to be scornful, one towards another, and they began to persecute those that did not believe according to their own will and pleasure. And thus, in this eighth year of the reign of the judges, there began to be great contentions among the people of the church; yea, there were envyings, and strife, and malice, and persecutions, and pride, even to exceed the pride of those who did not belong to the church of God. And thus ended the eighth year of the reign of the judges; and the wickedness of the church was a great stumbling–block to those who did not belong to the church; and thus the church began to fail in its progress. And it came to pass in the commencement of the ninth year, Alma saw the wickedness of the church, and he saw also that the example of the church began to lead those who were unbelievers on from one piece of iniquity to another, thus bringing on the destruction of the people.
Book of Mormon | Alma 31:27-28 ~ Behold, O God, they cry unto thee, and yet their hearts are swallowed up in their pride. Behold, O God, they cry unto thee with their mouths, while they are puffed up, even to greatness, with the vain things of the world. Behold, O my God, their costly apparel, and their ringlets, and their bracelets, and their ornaments of gold, and all their precious things which they are ornamented with; and behold, their hearts are set upon them, and yet they cry unto thee and say—We thank thee, O God, for we are a chosen people unto thee, while others shall perish.
Book of Mormon | Helaman 13:27-29 ~ But behold, if a man shall come among you and shall say: Do this, and there is no iniquity; do that and ye shall not suffer; yea, he will say: Walk after the pride of your own hearts; yea, walk after the pride of your eyes, and do whatsoever your heart desireth—and if a man shall come among you and say this, ye will receive him, and say that he is a prophet. Yea, ye will lift him up, and ye will give unto him of your substance; ye will give unto him of your gold, and of your silver, and ye will clothe him with costly apparel; and because he speaketh flattering words unto you, and he saith that all is well, then ye will not find fault with him. O ye wicked and ye perverse generation; ye hardened and ye stiffnecked people, how long will ye suppose that the Lord will suffer you? Yea, how long will ye suffer yourselves to be led by foolish and blind guides? Yea, how long will ye choose darkness rather than light?
8. Book of Mormon | 4 Nephi 1:24-26 ~ And now, in this two hundred and first year there began to be among them those who were lifted up in pride, such as the wearing of costly apparel, and all manner of fine pearls, and of the fine things of the world. And from that time forth they did have their goods and their substance no more common among them. And they began to be divided into classes; and they began to build up churches unto themselves to get gain, and began to deny the true church of Christ.
9. Book of Mormon | Mosiah 29:26-27 ~ Now it is not common that the voice of the people desireth anything contrary to that which is right; but it is common for the lesser part of the people to desire that which is not right; therefore this shall ye observe and make it your law—to do your business by the voice of the people. And if the time comes that the voice of the people doth choose iniquity, then is the time that the judgments of God will come upon you; yea, then is the time he will visit you with great destruction even as he has hitherto visited this land.
Book of Mormon | Alma 10:19 - 21 ~ ...yea, well did [Mosiah] say that if the time should come that the voice of this people should choose iniquity, that is, if the time should come that this people should fall into transgression, they would be ripe for destruction. And now I say unto you that well doth the Lord judge of your iniquities; well doth he cry unto this people, by the voice of his angels: Repent ye, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Yea, well doth he cry, by the voice of his angels that: I will come down among my people, with equity and justice in my hands.

11. Protection from enemies:
» For the time soon cometh that the fulness of the wrath of God shall be poured out upon all the children of men; for he will not suffer that the wicked shall destroy the righteous. Wherefore, he will preserve the righteous by his power, even if it so be that the fulness of his wrath must come, and the righteous be preserved, even unto the destruction of their enemies by fire. Wherefore, the righteous need not fear; for thus saith the prophet, they shall be saved, even if it so be as by fire. (Book of Mormon | 1 Nephi 22:16-17)
» He hath confounded mine enemies, unto the causing of them to quake before me. (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 4:22)
» And behold, according to the words of the prophet, the Messiah will set himself again the second time to recover them; wherefore, he will manifest himself unto them in power and great glory, unto the destruction of their enemies, when that day cometh when they shall believe in him; and none will he destroy that believe in him. (Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 6:14)
» Wherefore, the people of Nephi did fortify against them with their arms, and with all their might, trusting in the God and rock of their salvation; wherefore, they became as yet, conquerors of their enemies. (Book of Mormon | Jacob 7:25)
» Wherefore, the Lord did visit them in great judgment; nevertheless, he did spare the righteous that they should not perish, but did deliver them out of the hands of their enemies. (Book of Mormon | Omni 1:7)
» And now, my brethren, I would that ye should do as ye have hitherto done. As ye have kept my commandments, and also the commandments of my father, and have prospered, and have been kept from falling into the hands of your enemies, even so if ye shall keep the commandments of my son, or the commandments of God which shall be delivered unto you by him, ye shall prosper in the land, and your enemies shall have no power over you. (Book of Mormon | Mosiah 2:31)
» And except they repent and turn to the Lord their God, behold, I will deliver them into the hands of their enemies; yea, and they shall be brought into bondage; and they shall be afflicted by the hand of their enemies. And it shall come to pass that they shall know that I am the Lord their God, and am a jealous God, visiting the iniquities of my people. And it shall come to pass that except this people repent and turn unto the Lord their God, they shall be brought into bondage; and none shall deliver them, except it be the Lord the Almighty God. (Book of Mormon | Mosiah 11:21-23)
» ... because of their iniquities they were brought into bondage. And were it not for the interposition of their all–wise Creator, and this because of their sincere repentance, they must unavoidably remain in bondage until now. But behold, he did deliver them because they did humble themselves before him; and because they cried mightily unto him he did deliver them out of bondage; and thus doth the Lord work with his power in all cases among the children of men, extending the arm of mercy towards them that put their trust in him. (Book of Mormon | Mosiah 29:18-20)
» And have ye forgotten so soon how many times he delivered our fathers out of the hands of their enemies, and preserved them from being destroyed, even by the hands of their own brethren? (Book of Mormon | Alma 9:10)
» For were it not for the wickedness which first commenced at our head, we could have withstood our enemies that they could have gained no power over us. (Book of Mormon | Alma 60:15)
» But behold he doth not command us that we shall subject ourselves to our enemies, but that we should put our trust in him, and he will deliver us. (Book of Mormon | Alma 61:13)
» And for this cause wo shall come unto you except ye shall repent. For if ye will not repent, behold, this great city, and also all those great cities which are round about, which are in the land of our possession, shall be taken away that ye shall have no place in them; for behold, the Lord will not grant unto you strength, as he has hitherto done, to withstand against your enemies. (Book of Mormon | Helaman 7:22)
» Yea, and we may see at the very time when he doth prosper his people, yea, in the increase of their fields, their flocks and their herds, and in gold, and in silver, and in all manner of precious things of every kind and art; sparing their lives, and delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; softening the hearts of their enemies that they should not declare wars against them; yea, and in fine, doing all things for the welfare and happiness of his people; yea, then is the time that they do harden their hearts, and do forget the Lord their God, and do trample under their feet the Holy One—yea, and this because of their ease, and their exceedingly great prosperity. And thus we see that except the Lord doth chasten his people with many afflictions, yea, except he doth visit them with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence, they will not remember him. O how foolish, and how vain, and how evil, and devilish, and how quick to do iniquity, and how slow to do good, are the children of men; yea, how quick to hearken unto the words of the evil one, and to set their hearts upon the vain things of the world! Yea, how quick to be lifted up in pride; yea, how quick to boast, and do all manner of that which is iniquity; and how slow are they to remember the Lord their God, and to give ear unto his counsels, yea, how slow to walk in wisdom's paths! (Book of Mormon | Helaman 12:2-5)
» And their hearts were swollen with joy, unto the gushing out of many tears, because of the great goodness of God in delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; and they knew it was because of their repentance and their humility that they had been delivered from an everlasting destruction. (Book of Mormon | 3 Nephi 4:33)
